Why the number can be lower and still be true.
01The two models, side by side
| Big OTAs | Levelfare | |
|---|---|---|
| Rate source | Retail, commission inside | Wholesale supply |
| Markup | Hidden, variable, typically 15 to 25% | 3 to 5%, disclosed |
| Checkout surprises | Common | None from us |
| Urgency tactics | Countdown timers, "2 rooms left" | None |
| Business receipts | Basic | Reconciliation-ready |
02The honest-price promise
The travel industry runs on opaque markups. Levelfare runs the opposite way. You see one all-in price, you know we added a small margin, and it still beats the public sites on most stays. That is the whole pitch, and it holds up because the cost base is genuinely lower.
03Short answers
Do I have to pay a membership to get the lower price?
No. Search and booking are open. The lower price comes from wholesale supply, not a paid tier.
Is the room different from what I would book on Booking.com?
No. Same hotel and same room category. The difference is the rate source and the honest markup, not the room.
Why can the big sites not just match this?
Their public retail pricing and ad economics depend on higher rates. Our model starts from wholesale supply with the margin already built in.
